What is the need for the MEDI-Screen?

Adhering to social distancing guidelines in the inpatient hospital setting is a significant challenge, especially in hospitals with older ward environments and smaller bays. The requirement for each patient (and bed space) to be two metres apart to facilitate social distancing has meant that many beds have been removed, thus reducing operational capacity. It is essential as healthcare organisations seek to restore inpatient clinical activity the rules of social distancing are adhered too and opportunities for close patient to patient contact is minimised thus contributing to the reduction in nosocomial transmission.

How does the MEDI-Screen help?

By creating a physical barrier between beds, or a screen, it allows for more beds in the ward to remain usable. The MEDI-Screen forms a divide between bed space, potentially reducing the likely sideways transmission of respiratory droplets that could be carrying the Coronavirus and/or other airborne viruses.

How does the MEDI-Screen work?

The MEDI-Screen is designed to be installed with minimal structure and intrusion on the hospital ward environment. Using the existing over-head rail curtain system that exists around every bed bay, the MEDI-Screen simply hooks over the rail. It is made from 6 modular panels that are lightweight, completely transparent and very easy to put together - one complete MEDI-Screen can be installed in 5 minutes with no tools, drilling or alteration required to walls, ceiling or floor. And because the MEDI-Screen is suspended away from the rail, the existing privacy curtain can still easily be drawn around the bay when required.
